The Carroll’s arrived at The Carbeile back in 1997, Gail, Steve, Liam, Sean and Whiskey the dog! We came up from Truro to take on the St Austell Tenancy of the then ‘Carru Inn’. The pub was in a sorry state, so we embarked on reinventing it by having a large extension and refurbishment done and after closing for four months reopened as The Carbeile Inn (as it was originally called) We stayed for twelve years until the boys flew the nest, Liam off to Egypt with his new wife Tash to run a dive business and Sean off to the Hilton in London to enhance his career in hospitality. Roll on a few years, having run a number of pubs in Somerset and Wiltshire, we returned to Plymouth after the arrival of our first granddaughter Lola, with Bella arriving in 2020. The Carbeile became available again, so we decided to approach St Austell Brewery and take up the Tenancy once more. COVID had hit but this didn’t deter us, and we came back in June 2020 to get ready for reopening on the 4th July. We once again took up the reins and while in the second lockdown we refurbished the bar and restaurant ready for re-opening on 17th May 2021. We have gone on to develop a much loved community pub, welcoming all age groups and keeping our child friendly menu and Carbellos Ice Cream parlour for that special treat. Organising local events throughout the year and weekly Bingo to raise funds for local charities alongside showing all the national and local sporting events and the occasional music night. We are proud to be serving home cooked food and local Cornish ales to one and all.
